Don’t miss synth-pop upstarts Madaila when they hit American Beauty NYC on Thursday, April 13th with special guests Acid Tongue. [Buy Tickets] Madaila is one of the coolest young bands in the scene. Their synth-pop sounds, catchy hooks, and falsetto vocals mark a stark contrast from the purely jam-centric tradition of most bands from Burlington, VT. Recently, they’ve burst out of Burlington scene and into the rest of the northeast, playing a number of high-profile gigs along the way as they’ve re-incorporated improvisation into their live show. They’ve hit The Capitol Theater with Vermont buddies Twiddle, while also providing support for Grace Potter, Big Gigantic, Deer Tick, Rubblebucket, and more, as they’ve continued their ascent.Today, the band releases a new music video for their song “Realization” from their album Traces, which came out in November 2016. The video finds the band walking down the streets of Burlington before being stopped by two decidedly hip girls, who promptly tell the band that they look like “dorks.” The band are clearly miffed, but also embarrassed, and they are directed to a thrift shop where they undergo a serious full-band makeover. They trade in their nerdy clothes for much more vibrant attire and come out of the store looking like bonafide rock stars. When they leave the shop, it attracts many ladies on the streets of Burlington, who then follow the band back to the thrift shop for a bright and colorful dance party.Check out the fun video for “Realization” below!
